Air Montenegro has announced the launch of a new direct flight connecting Montenegro’s capital, Podgorica, to Rome twice a week, every Monday and Friday. This new connection not only brings the two capitals closer together but also offers a convenient travel option for individual travelers, families, and businesses. The flight reduces time and eliminates stopovers, offering passengers a more time-efficient travel experience and greater connectivity that will facilitate trade transactions, trade agreements, and investment opportunities between Montenegro and Italy.

Air Montenegro CEO Mark Anzur stated that the route will be active throughout the year, with the prediction of increasing frequency in the coming years. From January to November, 33,920 passengers were transported to this destination, for a total of 186 flights. With the opening of this route, Air Montenegro will contribute significantly to the increase in the number of passengers and direct flights to Rome. According to the winter season W23, Air Montenegro estimates to carry about 4 thousand passengers on the route Podgorica-Rome, which is expected to become about 10,000 during the summer tourist season.

Deputy Prime Minister Srdjan Pavicevic, who represents Montenegro’s delegation to Labour, Education, Health, and Social Policy, emphasized the need to strengthen mutual relations between the two countries. He highlighted the Italian Government’s commitment to consolidating relations with Balkan countries, particularly in the field of infrastructure through the involvement of Italian entrepreneurship in the sector. The government is also committed to consolidating Italy’s role as the main European hub of the Mediterranean on the route between Asia and Northern Europe through modernization of railways and development of ports and intermodality.
